Residue Solutions is in the business of helping mining companies operate their tailings dams more sustainably. Importantly, we look at tailings management differently.
We do not design tailings dams. We make them operate more efficiently by managing the tailings deposition process and intervening in how the tailings dewatering process occurs. When tailings are placed in a controlled fashion to maximise the dewatering, specialised earthmoving equipment can be used in the tailings to provide additional consolidation pressure, surface drainage management and ploughing of the evaporating surface. This process, called Mud Farming, has revolutionised tailings management.
With more intensive tailings disposal comes the need for a more intensive management approach and specialized equipment. In order to be truly effective the tailings consistency and delivery, deposition layer depth, mobile equipment management and the resulting growth rate of the tailings must all be adequately controlled. Importantly, Mud Farming is not earthmoving. It is a process designed to harness the properties of the tailings and the ambient climatic factors to maximum benefit. As such, it is based on strict scientific principles and requires careful management.
At Residue Solutions we have over 20 years experience in doing just that. We can offer unparalleled experience in tightly controlled tailings disposal. Working with your team we can provide the management, the personnel and the equipment to deliver a tailings solution at a lower overall cost and to a higher standard than you are achieving now. We offer the tools and the means to provide this solution including:
- Our proprietary dewatering operations model (MUDFARM) utilises local climate data, tailings characteristics and deposition practices to determine seasonal drying cycles, deposition schedules and equipment usage. This model can be updated daily to identify future deposition schedules conflicts or optimisation opportunities; and
- Our proprietary mud farming equipment (MudMaster), based on an amphirol like drive system, that can be built to your requirements and delivered anywhere in the world.
